The United States Air Force Academy is located on the northern end of Colorado Springs. Having the chance to serve at the United States Air Force Academy is a great opportunity as you are nestled in the foothills of the front range of the Colorado Rockies. It is close to shopping malls, restaurants, I-25 and plenty of new amenities. If you like exploring the outdoors, you can easily access the mountains west of Colorado Springs and find yourself on a trail in the middle of the wilderness, hiking, snow shoeing, or riding your ATV. Just about 45 minutes and you are to the south end of Denver and about 1 hour further west, lands you in the world renowned skiing of Colorado.
In addition to all of the wonderful amenities offered around the Air Force Academy, the local real estate market proves to still be a great investment for our service men and women. With the price of homes increasing steadily and rentals more-often-than-not higher than a mortgage payment, it can definitely be advantageous to buy vs. rent.
Many of the military personnel stationed at the Academy tend to favor the following MLS areas: Black Forest, Briargate, Rockrimmon Area, Monument, Tri-Lakes and the Northeast. However, you are likely to find other service members in every area of town you choose to live in and can be just about anywhere in the Springs in 30 minutes or less.
